"AR" stands for "Abrasion Resistant" and the 500 refers to the Brinell hardness of the plate. AR 500 plate is used in heavy industrial settings including mining, material handling, excavator buckets, armored tanks and of course, steel targets. If 3/8" AR 500 Plate is good 1/2" AR 500 plate is just that much better. It will be used in all of our professional series targets. 3/8" AR 500 will be considered for future use in our upcoming civilian line of targets systems.
Our plates have been thoroughly tested with thousands of rounds put on them with little to no wear (with the exception of paint coming off). Shot from the proper distances and with the correct ammunition you can expect an exceptionally long life from your target system. The original prototype targets we built for a local police agency are still being shot without issue 5 years later.
You will need to shoot the targets from the correct distances, ideally with frangible ammunition or ball, and reverse the target plates from time to time simply by lifting them out of the base and turning them around. Keep them painted to know where your rounds hit and protect them from the elements and they will last.
The plates and strike surfaces should be inspected prior to shooting and if any cracks have developed the target should be immediately taken off the line and replaced.

In a word... No. These target systems are designed to be used safely only after the end user has received proper instruction and training from an accredited training provider or agency such as Millbrook Tactical Inc. or an accredited equivalent.
Never point your firearm at anything you do not intent to shoot. You will use eye and ear protection when using our system and shoot from a safe distance with approved ammunition as listed above. The range must be approved by the Chief Firearm Officer, (for Canadian customers). Do your research and get training prior to purchasing our gear.
In line targets should be spaced 1.5 meters apart. For our neighbors down south that is approximately 5 feet apart. If shooting multiple targets ensure you are not shooting beyond a 20 degree side angle.
Be the bullet... know where it is going.
We currently offer HD torso targets as they are the most common shape for training purposes. However, should your agency require a different shape or size target we can build them, we would only need the dimensions of your desired targets. Send us an email and we will sort it out.
Our targets are all designed with a minimum of 20 degree down angle, (but they are closer to 25 degrees), on the strike plates to direct bullet / projectile fragments toward the ground. There are no flat surfaces facing the shooter thereby preventing ricochets from our target plates or stands, Our unique design has also incorporated a catch pocket at the front of the HD base which also works to catch fragments to keep the shooter safer.
